The overdose epidemic is the highest it has ever been in our communities. Both research and practice demonstrate that well-coordinated, cross-systems work provides the best outcomes for people who have experienced trauma, use substances, and often struggle to engage and retain in care. Creating a trauma informed eco-system requires a community of care that empowers and collaborates with clients and provides options so they can make informed choices without the risk of stigma. Success requires innovative thinking and strategic partnerships that leverage resources, promote cross-collaboration and use trauma informed approaches to best meet this challenge.
The TI OD2A Project strives to build the trauma lens in agencies that work in public health and public safety across the state to foster a trauma-informed ecosystem that allows for compassionate and non-judgmental service delivery approaches. Persons in the field of substance use disorder, addiction medicine, HIV prevention and treatment, including but not limited to front line staff and providers, community health workers, overdose fatality review team members, EMS personnel.
