Welcome to the Mickolajczyk Lab
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Rutgers University
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Ribosomes are molecular machines that synthesize new proteins. The production and maintenance of ribosomes is the most energy-expensive process in the cell, accounting for ~60% of all ATP used. In the Mickolajczyk Lab, we use advanced single-molecule biophysical techniques to study the ATP-consuming enzymes that drive ribosome production.
