Serena Claiborne, Ed.M., BSBA

Serena Claiborne provides grants and business administration services to the Rutgers University Center for Autism Research, Education, and Services (RUCARES) Program with Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health/Children’s Specialized Hospital, and Rutgers University Brain Health Institute (BHI). Serena experience includes the position of a Business Instructor for the Corporate Education & Training Division at Middlesex College (Woodbridge, NJ). During her tenure at Rutgers University, Serena’s career included the following positions: Grants & Contracts Specialist (Newark Campus), Grant Accountant for the Grants and Contract Department (DGC), and Plant Funds Accountant for the University Controller’s Office (Piscataway, NJ), and Program Coordinator/Compliance Manager, Business Manager and Assistant Director for the NJ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed) and the NJ Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) for Nutritional Science, Food Policy Institute, and the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Departments. Her professional experiences also include roles as a Budget Specialist, and Rating Analyst. She has traveled frequently to Capitol Hill to meet with Congress to provide education on federal-funded programs. Serena has served on national federal committees while representing the NJ Expanded Food and Nutrition Program. 

She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from Rutgers, The State University of NJ Newark Campus and a Master of Education with a focus in Human Resources Training and Development from the Adult and Continuing Education Graduate Program at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Her memberships trajectory includes Society of Research Administrators International, Financial Research Administrators, both of which are part of the National Council for University Research Administrators, the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, and the Association of SNAP Nutrition Education Administrators. Serena’s accomplishments include Business Accounting Supervisor Certificate, advisory and planning committee services, recipient of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Team Award, nominee for the Rutgers University Presidential Award, and recognition by the Who’s Who Among Professionals.
