In preparation for your first year of Patient Centered Medicine & Health Equity (PCM-HE), all incoming students are required to have specified medical equipment items. Although you are welcome to purchase your medical equipment however you would like to, AMSA is an RWJMS student organization that hosts an annual equipment sale for discount pricing and free delivery to campus. In the upcoming days, instructions on how to order from AMSA will be provided.

Please read the letter below regarding the required medical equipment for AY25-26

Dear Students,

Welcome to the Patient Centered Medicine & Health Equity (PCM-HE) Course! Among many other things, this is the course where we will be teaching you how to perform physical examinations on your patients. Quality instruments are key to conducting a good exam so having your personal set will be essential for practicing in class, on your own, and when seeing patients in the hospital or clinic.

Below is a list of medical equipment that will be used throughout the 2 year course. Equipment highlighted in green are required in the first year and should be ready for use in class on Tuesday Aug 19, 2025

Equipment highlighted in purple will be used during second year. You can choose to purchase these now and save them for M2 year, or purchase them later in the year.

The AMSA e-board will be emailing you about an Instrument Sale that they help coordinate. Many students use this sale as an opportunity to see the instruments that they will use. Please feel free to purchase your instruments however you like – there is no obligation or institutional endorsement of this particular Instrument Sale.

We and all of your Patient Centered Medicine & Health Equity (PCM-HE) Faculty Facilitators look forward to introducing you to the physical examination skills that you will develop and continue to use for your entire training and future medical career.

Sincerely,

Betsy Mathew, MD & Paul Weber, MD, RPh, MBA
