Mengying obtained her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on the development of electrochemical methods and DNA biosensors to detect drugs and biomarkers in blood. She got her bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry and biotechnology at Shandong Agricultural University. Before joining the Shi lab, Mengying was a postdoc at Johns Hopkins University, developing cell communication and screening tools for disease diagnosis and treatment.
