Educational Programs
Our department takes pride in training the next generation of radiation oncologists and medical physicists. Our educational opportunities comprise of residency programs in clinical radiation oncology and medical physics, and a certificate program in medical physics. The Department of Radiation Oncology is a highly collaborative environment that enables us to provide exceptional patient care while keeping our missions and goals at the forefront. We aim to provide the safest care and to seek to improve treatment and outcomes of cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy.
Clinical Residency Program
Our accredited Clinical Residency Program is committed to training exceptional clinicians, giving them the confidence to practice in any setting. Our program fosters an environment that nurtures academic inquiry and scientific investigation. Through education, research, and extensive mentorship we hope to inspire the next generation of radiation oncologists.

Program Structure and Curriculum
Medical Physics Residency Program
Our Medical Physics Residency Program offers comprehensive trainings to our residents in radiation therapy physics to a competency level sufficient to prepare them to practice radiation physics independently and professionally. We offer in-depth training in the areas of radiation therapy physics, safety, radiation machine calibration, quality assurance, clinical dosimetry, treatment planning, design, and fabrication. Trainings are also provided in stereotactic body radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, low-/high dose rate brachytherapy and special procedures in current practice including but not limited to total body irradiation, and total skin electron therapy.

Medical Physics Certificate Program
Our Medical Physics Certificate Program is under the umbrella of Rutgers School of Graduate Studies. The program is designed for students without an accredited medical physics graduate degree seeking to enter the field of medical physics. For such individuals, the certificate program offers a path to the profession by satisfying coursework requirements for entering an accredited medical physics residency program, an essential step towards eventual board certification and becoming a practicing medical physicist.
