Tianyu Justin Yang, PhD

Physics Residents

I was born near Shanghai and later moved to Boston for high school. I studied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Michigan and earned my PhD in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where my research focused on elementary particles and their interactions at the electroweak scale. After graduation, I transitioned into medical physics through a research-only fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, developing MLC tracking with real-time volumetric MRI guidance for pancreas treatments on the Elekta Unity MR-Linac. At Rutgers, I hope to pair my research skills with strong, hands-on clinical training under graduated autonomy. In my free time, I enjoy triathlon training, exploring the outdoors, and working with tools.
