Two of our recent findings on condensates were posted on bioRxiv!
In the first one, Huan made a surprising discovery that the excitation of fluorescently tagged proteins leads to condensate-mediated crosslinking, resulting in a rapid solidification of condensates under common imaging conditions. She found numerous implications of this finding both in vitro and in live cells.
In the second preprint, Bineet investigated the effect of alpha-synuclein on condensates of tau, two proteins often co-aggregate in neurodegeneration. He observed that fibril seeds of alpha-synuclein, but not monomers, induce the maturation of tau condensates, hinting a unique role of multivalent seeds in the pathological transition of condensates.
