Recent Article from EurekAlert: How plants harness microbes to get nutrients

Rutgers-led study could lead to enhanced crop growth, fewer weeds and lower fertilizer and herbicide use

Welcome to Dr. White’s Laboratory

In my lab we are studying plant microbiomes and how plants use microbiomes as sources of nutrients and defense. Our ultimate goal is to develop new and effective ways to protect plants from biotic and abiotic stresses and enhance the nutritional status of crop plants through construction of functional plant microbiomes with defensive and nutritional properties. It is our belief that plant microbiome technologies may one day reduce or replace chemical inputs currently used to grow crops.
