BUCLD 43

Dr. Syrett presented a talk at BUCLD 43 in collaboration with researchers at Northwestern (Dr. Sandy Waxman, Sandy Latourrette, Brock Ferguson) entitled, “Crying helps, but being sad doesn’t: Verbs, but not adjectives, constrain referent selection for novel nouns through age three.”

Dr. Kristen Syrett, Morgan Moyer, and Zehra Husnain also presented a talk at the 43rdAnnual Boston University Conference on Language Development in November entitled, “Won’t somebody think of the children? Beyond maximality with plural definite descriptions.” This work is based on a combination of Morgan’s QP1 and Zehra’s honors thesis, both advised by Dr. Syrett.
