Fourth-year grad student Ziling Zhu presented her work “*Be surprised whether: question-to-cleft reduction”, a collaboration with Prof. Yimei Xiang, at the 2022 Amsterdam Colloquium. This presentation, part of the colloquium’s lightning talks session on Dec. 20, came out of Ziling’s second qualifying paper on the selectional restrictions of emotive factives.
