This past June, Rutgers Linguistics was well-represented at Experiments in Linguistic Meaning (ELM 4) at UPenn. The large group of Rutgers-affiliated presenters (both past and present!) and attendees included Dr. Ziling Zhu (current post-doc at the University of Gottingen), Dr. Shannon Bryant (current RuCCs faculty), Dr. Mark Baker, Dr. Dorothy Ahn, Dr. Kristen Syrett, and Dr. Yagmur Sag (current faculty at Swarthmore College).
Graduate alum Ziling Zhu (current post-doc at the University of Gottingen) presented joint work with Zahra Mirrazi and Hedde Zeijlstra, titled “When does ‘hope’ neg-raise?: An experimental report on four languages,” and she also presented joint work with Setayesh Dashti and Hedde Zeijlstra titled “NALL is learnable.”
Current Rutgers faculty, Shannon Bryant and Mark Baker, presented joint work on “The Semantics of Control: Evidence from English Control Shift,” and Shannon Bryant and Kristen Syrett presented joint work titled “English Reflexive Use is Mediated by Event Role Construal.”
