Professor Adam Jardine led another successful workshop on mathematical and computational approaches to phonology (and syntax!), held from November 14th to 16th and supported by NSF Grant #2416184.

The event highlighted the depth of research within our community, featuring presentations from graduate students Vincent Czarnecki, Hyunjung Joo, and Chenli Wang, along with undergraduate majors Neha Jeyaram and Manish Kandepalli. Their work showcased the growing role of formal and computational methods in understanding linguistic structure.

The workshop also welcomed Rutgers Department of Philosophy Professor Paul Pietroski, who joined us to give a talk. The three-day event provided an engaging space for collaboration, idea-sharing, and advancing the intersection of mathematics and linguistics within our department.
