To make the most of your experience in the SN-EOF program, we encourage you to take advantage of all of the resources our program has to offer. This also requires that you take ownership of your academic journey. However, please know that we are here to support you as you face one of the most arduous and rigorous educational experiences and fulfill your goal of becoming a Distinguished Rutgers Nurse!

- Explain and clearly communicate degree requirements for the Rutgers School of Nursing Program
- Convey University policies and procedures
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines as outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Be available to you through scheduled appointments, walk-in hours, group advising sessions, and emails and phone calls during regular business hours
- Work with you to identify your strengths and interests to help you develop realistic educational goals
- Make appropriate referrals as necessary
- Discuss your academic performance and its impact on your future goals
- Listen to and respect you as an individual with unique needs, abilities, and interests
- Assist you in making a smooth transition to Rutgers University School of Nursing
- Provide you with accurate information and follow up with you if any questions were left unanswered

- Become knowledgeable about major requirements and academic expectations
- Adhere to University policies and procedures, and ask questions about them if necessary
- Keep open lines of communication
- Understand that counselors have a variety of responsibilities that impact their availability, keep scheduled appointments, and cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice if necessary
- Be honest and open with counselors about your strengths, interests, and goals
- Follow up with recommended referrals
- Accept responsibility for your academic performance and accept the challenge that college courses provide
- Listen to and respect the counselor as a professional who has your best interest in mind
- Ask questions and request assistance at the first sign of difficulty or concern
- Come prepared to meetings with questions
