The most important components of hosting a successful book event are

  1. Selection of reading material: think about the reading level and interests of the audience, genre, topic, and availability of the text
  2. Location: think about the area (or campus), venue, distance, accessibility, parking, distractions
  3. Scheduling: think about the time of the day, week, or year, holidays, academic calendar
