In an effort to increase citizen science visibility and resources for researchers, students, and educators at SEBS and the Rutgers community, we are kicking off a new citizen science initiative!
To start, we are building a new citizen science research guide and hosting a workshop to connect our community to the resources they need to start citizen science in their homes, community, classrooms (virtual or not), and research. In the true spirit of citizen/participatory science we need your input!
We want to hear from you the resources you’ve enjoyed, the participatory research you’ve conducted here at Rutgers, and the ways you’ve incorporated citizen science in your classroom.
What is citizen science you ask? Put simply: public participation in the scientific research process. Usually, citizen scientist are involved in the data collection or analysis part of scientific research. For example, if you have ever helped scientists monitor water quality, document/identify wildlife, or analyze photos of space, you are a citizen scientist. You may have participated in citizen science and not even realized it! Let us know your experiences and suggest resources for our research guide in the contact form below, or on twitter @BWR_Chang.
