Summer Tales – End of Story?

Poster

As we are closing to wrap up our Summer Reading program this week with a series of blog posts with our reflections, first, here is a list of findings participants can take away from experience:

  • discussing topics (often related to more than just a story) might help reflect on more than just the story
  • finding out about more titles to read (sometimes out of one’s interest) might take one down to new paths
  • meeting new friends with similar interests virtually is just as good as face to face
  • just hanging out to see what’s going on is a perfectly acceptable approach to get started in a virtual book club
  • it takes a village to get comfortable with online learning and library resources.

Stay tuned for our takeaways on the Books We Read Pages such as a peer-to-peer book collection recommended by you guys as well as the best of the Creative Contest.

The best closing words, as quoted at our live discussion with the author, are from Joyce Carol Oates:

“Read widely, and without apology. Read what you want to read, not what someone tells you you should read.”
